Editor review
Ink Drift is a drawing-arcade where ink trails drift on water based on flow direction. Match target shapes by anticipating drift. Forty patterns across four water-flow themes.
What works is the flow-physics simulation. Ink behaves realistically with appropriate viscosity and current interaction. The simulation is satisfying to watch even when the match attempt fails.
Forty patterns with target shapes ranging from simple lines to complex spirals. Late patterns require deliberate flow-anticipation.
Tested over three Auckland CBD cafe afternoon sessions. Touch drag is the natural input on phone. Mouse-drag also works on desktop.
Where the design earns its rating is the satisfying-to-watch failure-mode. Even bad attempts produce interesting ink patterns. The format rewards engagement regardless of accuracy.
Where I would push back is the time pressure. Each pattern has a thirty-second timer. The pressure runs against the meditative drift-physics tone. A no-timer mode would have suited the format better.
Three-and-a-half stars. Solid ink-drift arcade with thoughtful flow physics. Limited by timer pressure that fights the format.
